Astragalus is a legume native to temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere, and is known as both Mongolian milkvetch and huang qi. The plant has a long history of use in traditional Chinese and Persian medicines, as it is frequently used to boost the immune system, strengthen superficial resistance and promote healthy growth of new tissue.

Its use in natural medicine today is directly linked with the common cold, however astragalus helps its users:

●    Fight against respiratory infections
●    Protect against heart disease
●    Strengthen the body in general
●    Treating nervous conditions
●    Lowering blood sugar and blood pressure

An extract of Astragalus called TA-65 is beginning to show life-prolonging effects in recent studies by activating telomerase, extending the lengths of the shortest telomeres which protect terminal DNA.
