What is Echinacea?

Echinacea species are herbaceous, drought-tolerant perennial plants and is a member of the sunflower family. 

Flowers have rose-colored florets arranged in a cone-shaped head. The generic name Echinacea is rooted in the Greek word ἐχῖνος (echinos), meaning hedgehog, it references the spiky appearance and feel of the flower heads.

Used traditionally in western herbal medicine to help relieve sore throat and cough symptoms of cold and flu.
